Re: Pink Floyd vs Tool

although i enjoy all tool albums (excluding Opiate), i dont think they've taken any ideas from PF in their songwriting. they are in their own category, as is PF, as is Radiohead, as is Sigur Ros, as it etc. etc. etc....

tool's full creativity wasnt achieved until after the recording/during the tour of Aenima. i enjoy alot of songs from this album dont get me wrong, but you can plainly tell a significant difference in their ideas and their view of the music on the Salival live cd. the songs 'pushit' and 'third eye' were redone for the better, as they truly show how tool has opened up to a more "spiritual" sound. this method is clear on the Lateralus album too. notice how dark and mystic it is, as with all other albums (excluding Salival cd), they have like a raw hard rock-ish method. it just seems like they've finally found the groove. its hard to explain, but as a fan i can tell the change has occurred.

but yeah, PF VS Tool......thats just ludicrous.
