| Re: You know how everyone raves about how..... "Mediocre musicians"> In reference to the Pink Floyd in general and Gilmour in particular?
I can't believe I read that. And from Not Now John as well, whose opinions I'd come to trust. (Okay, so I have only been on this site for maybe a week or so, but us Floyd fans know what's good for us.
I saw Gilmour do The Wall in 1981, and Eric Clapton do PF songs with Roger for his Pros and Cons concert, both in London, and I can assure you Gilmours playing is anything but mediocre. Erics playing was perhaps superior when actually playing the music, but it DID sound like Clapton - it had his unique sound - and not Gilmour. I preferred Gilmour's version. Of course, I would wouldn't I.
The Floyd were always experimenting with noises and sound effects, so DSOTM should be considered in that respect and listened to more than analysed.
Floyd on!
