Re: writing songs

Well first off let me tell you I am no musician, but I am not sure that you have to be a musician to be able to write lyrics that someone could put music too. I am sure everyone at least sometime in their life has tried to write a song, well okay maybe not everyone but I have, and for some reason when i always sing them in my head (I never ever sing out loud, unless in the shower, or to whats on the radio) I realize that rhyming poetry works in song, however not all songs are writen to ryhme.

I guess my question is how do people come up with words and lines for songs. Some songs like Syds seem to wander from Line to line but yet in the end they are telling a story and make sense? How does he do that, I mean everyone is different so I am sure there is not one best way.

Roger Waters on the VH1 legends said that he learned from Syd to just keep whatever he wrote down because no matter how silly it could always turn into something great. What advice does anyone have? Understand I am just looking for opinions, ideas and whatnot, cause it is something that I have always wondered about

Again and again I know what it means, but Can't explain I think it's love Try to say it to you, When I feel blue, But, I can't explain.
