| Re: Roger Live! I guess this is where I will share with you my experience of seeing The Floyd in concert. I was privileged enought to see them perform in Philadelphia in 1994. I remember it vividly i was 14 or so at the time and am 21 now, and by far and away it is the best concert i have ever been to and will ever be present at.
I guess will shed some light on how it is that i had come to get tickets to this seemingly once in a life time event for my generation. Well I was on my way to a soccer game that i was playing in, it was the afternoon around 11:30 or so, I was warming in the back with my sister who was shooting at me (I was a goalie) well my father pulls into the drive way to annouce that the Floyd was going on tour and were playing three dates in philadelphia. Having been a floyd fan since the time i was 8 maybe earlier i nearly wet my pants, but i didn't. So i found out when the tickets were going on sale, to my disapointment they were going on sale the morning of one of my swim meets (yes i played soccer, swam competively, play baseball and then laccrosse all at the same time) so i was unable to stand in line and get my tickets, and i begged and begged my parent to go. Time went by and i resided my self to the fact that my parents had once again deprived me of something anyother kid would get (i never had a nintendo when they first came out either)
Fast forward to easter . . .
I come down stairs do the egg thing with my sister, open my card and what do i find in my card, but ummm a Ticket to see Pink Floyd, well that was all i talked about in school out side of school every minute of the waking day. I was the envey off all the enlightened kids in school (if you don't like floyd in my opinion you are not enlightened and will be scared for life).
So my whole family (My father, mother and sister, and I) went to see The Floyd live in concert. My whole family enjoys their music, my father and I being the foremost fanatics in the family. My father i might add is a BITCH and was lucky enought to see them in 1973 when they toured for dark side of the moon.
Memories i have of the show are awesome, the lighting affects wizzing around the stadium, someone puking in the hall way when i went to buy my shirt, SOYCD being the first song after intermission. This guy whereing a big Dr. Suess looking hat (i dunno what that was about) the Inflatable pigs, the HUGE Disco ball that rose out from the middle of the stadium, the movies playing durring the show, I remember watching the percussionist going crazy jumping around while playing his tunes, Davids Red Guitar, the thousands of incensed fans, the pot being smoked all around me. People just grooving in their seats. and at the end the guy in the parking lot who ask my dad if it was okay if he tried to jump over our car . . .
this was truely one of the best nites of my life, and to this day when i tell people they cannot believe that my family was there, but to me that is no big deal, my parents are products of the times when the Floyd in their prime, so why shouldn't they be there? I only wish that they would tour one last time . . . but sadly every year that passes is another year gone by without any news. the only my only solace is my thinking that the floyd have toured at least once in every decade since the band was formed and maybe they will do it again . . .
