Well, not technically. The classic Leslie set-up (122, 147 models, with the wood upright cabinets) have a rotating horn, which is different than RM's set-up in the fact that the speaker itself is moving, not something in front of it.
The classic model's lower bass rotor (and other rotor-based Leslie systems) are more like RM's thingie, because there is a rotating device in front of a stationary speaker.

I, for one, nearly followed through on the same idea as yours when I first saw the huge caster fans where I work, but I didn't do it because, being a fan, it made way too much noise.
