OK, I'm a Beatles fan since I was 3, so I've had quite enough of this Paul is dead rumor.
But, gotta admit it is indeed quite fun, and I have had some good time with the vynil edition of White Album myself, making it go backwards after I'm So Tired to hear that sentence...
About the Sgt Pepper bass drum thing, well, it's true that the line reads that, but it's quite inevitable... I mean, that would happen anyway if you write LONELY HEARTS in capital letters, and I also think that the stuff about I ONE I X meaning really soething doesn't seem that logical to me.
And anyway, we all know that the rumor was started on purpose by an american dj during his radio show back in '69 if I remember correctly.
Other evidences would have been the writing OPD over Paul's uniform sleeve, also from Pepper, which would allegedly mean "officially pronounced dead".
This was proven wrong, too, as the writing was in fact OPP (Ontario Police -uhm- something...) but in the picture looked like OPD b/c the patch was only half-visible.
And then there is the cover of Abbey road, with the license plate on the white volkswagen on the right reading "28 IF", meaning that Paul would have been 28 IF he was alive... but, again, this was proven wrong by the simple fact that Sir McCartney, having been born in '42, was 27, and not 28!
Also on the same cover, you have Paul walking barefoot, as people were buried according to the celtic tradition, John dressed in white, representing the priest, Ringo in black, the undertaker's business man, and George in worker's blue jeans, representing the grave digger, all taking part in the funeral procession.
Actually the only reason why Paul was barefoot is because he just lived down the street, so that morning he had come to the studio in sandals, and they thought the sandals wouldn't really look that good on the album cover.
The other three were simply sporting their favorite clothing styles at the time.
Hope this helped.
Cheers
Oh, by the way, which one's pink?
