| Re: does anyone know why roger used the same melody so many times on pros and cons? It's a headphone record. You're supposed to give it your full attention and let the sounds tell the story. If you treat it like a regular rock and roll record (which everyone who gives it those bad reviews does), of course it's going to sound awful. It obviously doesn't stack up well in the Melodic Content/Fancy Chord Progressions department. But that's not the point. I like to think of it more as a soap opera than a Pink Floyd record. The lyrics are fantastic; they've got such lovely rhythms and cadences. Once you get into it you can listen again and again without getting bored. But if you’re looking for Dark Side of the Moon Part Two all you’re going to hear is screeching.
