New server and farewell (for now)

Dear floydians,

First of all, I would like to thank everyone for being here and for being a part of our community. APFFN is only possible as a result of the support, friendship, love and insight from users such as you! It is you that make this site what it is, and it is a real pleasure to host you here.

As many of you know by now, there has been quite a few changes in my real life. I was recently admitted for a one-year Masters program in Madrid, Spain - a dream come true - and I will be departing next Wednesday (August 11th). Now, of course there is Internet available everywhere these days, but for the first couple of months I don't know how much of Internet access I'll have, so I may be a bit absent during this period. I'll try my best to keep an eye on things here, but please don't count on me. I have spoken to our wonderful team of mods and they will keep on looking after everything here. Please appreciate what they do, because if it wasn't for them and their labor of love, the forums would be long gone. Specially during these first weeks, more than ever, they have full authority on things over here, and power to enforce their decisions, including banning users, so please cooperate with them.

Also, as a token of thanks for everyone here, I have been working very hard for the past day or so, as we have moved All Pink Floyd Fan Network to a new host provider, in a great new server. This should allow room for further growing, as well as faster bandwidth and server response times (meaning pages should be served a bit faster), less (or hopefully none) of those annoying "server too busy" messages, and much better reliability (meaning the site will crash much less often, hopefully never again). Because of the high costs of such a solution, this has only been possible because of the contributions users have made, either by directly supporting us or by shopping through our website.

We did our best to test and re-test things around to make sure everything was working smoothly, before bringing the site back online, but, of course, we may have overlooked a few things. We would really appreciate if you could let us know of any faults or problems you run into, specially until August 11th, when I leave for Spain. After that date, who knows when I'll be able to address any problems that may arise.

Anyway, thanks again for your support and my special heartfelt thanks to Lej (Sydney), Mark (fixxlevy), Dave (Fulghum) and Maurice (Wing'd Icarus) for all their help, and we hope you enjoy the new server.
