Re: Ghost sightings....

I saw a program on the History channel about the many Ghost sightings and encounters in and around the Gettysburg battlefield. While I dismiss many of the stories as people having overactive imaginations or wanting to be on TV, some of the stories seem eerily convincing.

One I particularly remember is about one of the old dormitories on the Gettysburg campus. The story goes that two of the College administrators were in the building late one evening, and took the elevator to the first floor. But the elevator did not stop there, it continued down to the basement. The doors opened, and the two were horrified to see a ghastly 1863 field hospital scene, pools of blood and piles of amputated limbs. Stacks of dead bodies, wounded soldiers moaning, crying. Supposedly, two blood-spattered doctors stopped what the were doing and stared at the two terrified mortals.
Afterwards, their research found the basement had indeed served as a temporary hospital and morgue for the Union Army during the battle.
