Hello all,
So I'm trying to figure out what my next purchase should be, and I need to enlist your collective wisdom in deciding.
You see, I've played for about a year and consider myself to be a good rhythm player and a decent lead player (I won't melt your face but Im working on it). My cousin has asked me to play with a group were putting together for a big halloween party in a couple weeks. It's gonna be guys I've grown up with and jammed with before, but due to the lack of time it'll probably just be the easier stuff we all like (Tom Petty, U2, Oasis, etc.).
I'm good to go guitar-wise (Highway 1), but am lacking in the gig amp department (Fender Frontman 25R). I've always wanted to go tubes, but as a college student, I lack the funds necessary for a Vibrolux, Twin Reverb, AC30, or any of the amps I really lust for. But what about a Fender Hot Rod or Deville? I could make one of those happen, and yes, we have a PA. Do they have a good tube sound, with enough power for a gig? I need to go down and try one out, but I also wanted input from more experienced people.
On another front, I'm also needing to get into this world of effects. I think I'll get the Big Muff for distortion, but Im cautious as to what delay to get. What kind of delay is it that Gilmour used in the second part of Echoes, the 4 note deal on the E and A strings? I definately want that one.
Any input received on any of these issues is greatly appreciated.
