| Re: amp/gear/tone Q's My Big Muff isn't too noisy - but it *is* a tone-sucking monster. I'm going to get an American one soon, I stopped using the Russian because my clean tone starting lacking.
A Fender Hot Rod Deville 2X12" amplifier pushes 60 watts (in tube power). My Super Reverb is but 40 watts (total tube) and it matches (and sometimes overpowers) my brother's Stage 100 setup, which is (obviously) 100 watts solid-state. So if you got a Hot Rod Deville you'd be set for a while, I gamble.
They're nice amps, too, I'd just recommend getting an outboard distortion pedal... the distortion built-in isn't too good (in my opinion). Then again, you're planning to get a Big Muff so that's taken care of. If you don't end up liking the Big Muff, I would recommend a Boss DS-1. They're cheap, reliable and can get a wide range of distortion tones (and sounds great through a tube amp).
Damn, I talk too much, hehe. |
