Re: BEST of Syd Barrett!

My only familiarity with Mr. Barrett's solo work is through Wouldn't You Miss Me, but I'll give this a shot anyway.

I am very partial to the organ on "Long Gone".

I also like "Golden Hair"...can't explain why. Very simple, but it's a catchy sequence both to listen to, and to play on my guitar.

I also enjoyed "Late Night", but half the fun was in the mental mixing in of PF members' work. I thought a Hammond, some Richard Wright vocal harmonies (which you often find with Mr. Barrett in his PF works), and I even mixed in a little DG-style guitar work!

There are other good ones, but with my lack of familiarity, it's sometimes hard to put names to titles, or even to think of all of my favourites. There's another one that I THINK may be "Opel": "I'm trying..." Anyway, that's my two cents (probably all it's worth, anyway!)

And a few other notes. Am I the only person here who feels no need to have a debit card?

Also, I am lucky enough to have a bookstore/music store in my area that (at one point when I checked) had ALL of Mr. Barrett's albums in stock. I'll have to check again to see if it's still the case; the last time I looked in that section was in December.
