| Re: best writer I read too much to pick one writer, so I will pick four:
Fiction: Fydor Dostoevsky (Crime and Punishment, The Brothers Karamazov, Notes From Underground, The Idiot, Demons etc.)
History: David McCullough (John Adams, Truman, Mornings on Horseback, The Brooklyn Bridge etc.)
Sociology: Robert Putnam (Bowling Alone, Better Together)
Philosophy: Nietzsche (Thus Spoke Zarathustra, Beyond Good and Evil, Birth of Tragedy ect.)
These are my favorite writers because their books are all profound while being very enjoyable (a book can be profound and not be enjoyable!). |
