I was actually pretty pissed off. People like her abuse the system and cause complications - namely making other people wait longer, people who have legitimate concerns and health issues.
I SHIT you not - some of the most common complaints people bring into the ER? Broken nails. I'm NOT kidding you. Broken fingernails. And they use EMS transportation too. It's a bloody crime that EMS personel and Triage RNs can't decline such calls. We've had people come in with bubblegum stuck in their hair, wanting their earwax cleaned, a girl sho scratched her leg while shaving.... My DON tells me enough crazy stories.
We had an incident last week - three people were so fed up of waiting in triage in the ER that they went two blocks down the road, used a phone and called in an ambulance! The DON was SO livid, she called the cops and the cops cave them citations for abusing EMS.
I felt like giving the cops a hug.
The healthcare system needs to be fixed - too many issues.
