Re: The Mars Volta

So Cedric didn't talk at all? He doesn't usually, but sometimes he goes on these rants about moshing, and how the crowds are retards for moshing and they all need to learn how to dance, and how he bets they're all just white males who watch MTV and have pent up aggression and then calls them all sheep. Other times he's much nicer about it, and he just says how dancing is more fun and they should all try it out and be nice to each other and not hurt anyone and look out for the little people, because coming from two little people (himself and Omar) he knows what it's like to pushed around. I also remember stories about people throwing stuff at them and him saying stuff like "hey you don't do that to your favourite band man, I'm just doing my effing job, you do that at an effing Limp Bizkit concert, but we're The Mars Volta, we're not hardcore" I remeber there also being a story about some guy throwing some ice at him and Ced was like "Hey you effing do that again I'll come down there and smack you in the face with my mic, and I don't give a shit if you sue me".. hahahaha.. that man is a god.
So my point was.. did people mosh a lot or are they finally getting through to their fans? The lads are major pacifists and personally I really like that about them.

It's a shame you couldn't see them though.. they're amazing when they break out the salsa moves. I'm glad you liked the music, this is the part where you go and get their albums right?

PinkZeppelin, no offense, but you need ears. The Widow is the most average song on that album, the crescendos and the movements and the power of the music is so much more overwhelming in other parts of that album. Like L'Via with its massive guitar and awesome salsa grooves, and in Cassandra with the "No there's no light in the darkest of your furthest reaches" and that really awesome brass bit towards the end. Just Ced's vocals alone on Miranda make it a standout track, and the composition of that track is mindbogglingly awesome.
I think you need to take a better listen and even better read the lyrics while you're at it and think a little bit more about the story.
I know all this sounds pretty rude and like I'm not respecting your views. I do.. but I just think you're missing some amazing stuff there if you think that The Widow is their best song (a fine song indeed, better than anything else on the radio, but TMV are more than just about that.. ya know)
