That's what's wrong with the country today, no respect for the elders and not enough good thrashings (or cold showers for that matter....or National Service....six months in the army ..that'd do 'em some good...wash shave and a haircut....I blame that Elvis chappie)...in my day you could dine at the Ritz for sixpence, get a handsome cab back home for pennies, and he (the driver) would tug his forelock in appreciation I might add. People knew their place. A young Victoria was on the throne ( gawd bless 'er) and the AA men still saluted you. Now that's showing respect. It was a Golden Age indeed, most of the map was in red, which depicted the British Empire. Now in my day, there was very few of these horseless carriages, people would walk in front with a red flag to let you know they were coming..and if they didn't... you gave then a damn good thrashing for not showing respect. In fact I think I'll go and flog my gamekeeper ( Mellors) as he looks in need of a damn good thashing for not showing respect to his elders!
yours rantingly
Col. Upshott Baggley (retired) VC; DSO ( and bar) | MY GOD that was quite possibly the funniest thing I've ever read. Damn it I like your style!
