Tiring day.
Obnoxious patients left right and center.
Didn't realise this till today - if a drunk comes into our ER, we can't let her go (even if she so states clearly that she wants to) untill blood alcohol levels comes to within legal limits. If we let em go, and they get hit by a bus or a cab, they can sue our pants off.
I think it's fucking stupid.
Ran two codes - I got my ass chewed out on the second one. I was in SUCH a hurry to switch an IV solution bag that I got careless, I pulled the tubing straight off the bag without inverting it first.
As a result, half the code team got drenched with saline solution.
The code director later on discreetly pulled me aside and promptly bit into my ass and tore me a new one.
The guy didn't survive the code - no way he could have anyways. Self-inflicted hanging - paramedics found him 10 minutes later. Wouldn't have mattered, cartilage had sliced his pons. Dude was clinically brain dead even before the ambulance hit the hospital.
We later discovered that he'd attached the rope to a wire/chain he wore around his neck. Ick! Now I know how a hanging with piano wire would look like!
I'm tired but I got four papers to write.
geesh!
