200,000 Warsaw Pact troops rolled their tanks into Prague, Czechoslavakia to crush the "uprising" headed by Czech leader Alexander Dubcek, who was in the process of molding a "kindler and gentler" communist party there.
NATO forces in West Germany (me included) were put on full alert.
