I like TFC because I relate to the story being told. While I vehemently disagree with Rog accusing Nixon, Thatcher, Reagan & Begin of being "tyrants", I sympathize with his sorrow at the death of the post-war dream.
But that has been the history of man. In just the last century, the post-war dream of 1918 was shattered in the 1930's. The postwar dream of which Roger speaks in TFC was destroyed by Joe Stalin, North Korea, Chairman Mao, Vietnam. The postwar dream of the end of the "cold war" with the USSR has been ruined by the rise of the Islamofascists. It never ends, postwar dreams evaporate, and I think that's what Roger laments.
Back on topic, post-Waters Floyd was different, but still very good, IMO. But that's because I'm a Gilmour fan. |
wow. you really know you'e stuff. Well, i am very young in comparison to most others on this board, and i am also a girl, making my minority even greater, but i really like the emotion in the final cut and other waters driven albums and songs. I might not always understand what he's saying, but i can feel the power and emotion, and it really gets me.
