I'm actually neither qualified nor licensed to be a Mid-Wife in the State of Illinois (or for that matter, anywhere else in the United States).
Besides, I'm in no position to afford the malpractice insurance premiums of that practice!
I do admit to having "assisted" in a vaginal delivery and in port-partum lactation teaching ... but that was during my OB rotation in school. That's about as far as my clinical experience with birth/OB/mid-wife goes.
Personally, I'm more comfortable with Pediatric, Trauma, or Surgical cases.
