Now that I listen to it again, the word he says sounds rather like "falk", as though he's trying to walk a fine line between actually SAYING what he wants to, and what he thinks will get air time for the song. If I recall, "Candy and a Currant Bun" was supposed to be a radio single. Back then, I think radio stations might have been a little more controlling about what words were allowed on radio.
