| Re: Pink Floyd Fan Music Recommendations Brubeck was not only a great jazz artist, he was a cool dude. i had the fortune of meeting him out in Newport Beach a couple of years back. a real sweet guy. and i'm not sure if you knew this, but he was one of the first dudes to have a racially desegregated band.
in the jazz series by ken burns, brubeck tells a story of the first "negro" that he met along the Sacramento River in California. he was with his dad, who asked the black man to take off his shirt. the man had been branded years before. when he told this story, brubeck began to get all choked up, recalling how his father looked at him and told him: "these things can't happen." a very touching story indeed. i am down with DB. no doubt.
yes, yes, i will keep my posts shorter. hahahhah.
have a good day, y'all. |
