| Re: Any fans of Mr. Wright out there...? Does Mr. Wright have his own sound? I think so. It is a very subtle sound, which "weaves" in and out of the various nuances of the other band members, drawing them together in the background. It is often surreal, and I think the best example of this otherworldly but understated sound is Broken China, where you can, in effect, get rid of all of the foreground distractions (not to demean any other band members--I don't mean it that way!) and hear it by itself.
Another note about Mr. Wright--I've also noticed that his sense of beat is often not your standard ONE-two-three-four etc. type beat, things that would never occur to me, but sound excellent! In other words, he seems to do a lot more work with rhythms and textures than, for instance, Mr. Gilmour's solo albums do.
As for Mr. Mason's style, despite his being the drummer, as I said, I think some (but only a part, of course) of the unique rhythms are actually coming from somewhere else. NM's the one I have difficulty with. In the early albums, he's very, very distinct...but I lose that sound after DSotM. Others may be able to hear it, but after that, I cannot distinguish him from any other drummer.
