| Re: Division Bell i think the album is kind of an unmemorable entry into the pink floyd library. most of the songs sound the same, kinda slow and airy, and wrights keyboard playing is very simple and unimaginative when compared with his older work (such as anything ummagumma to animals). i also agree with madcap that all of gilmours solos sound the same. and they are all very predictable, you know exactly where they will start before you even hear them. the only two standouts to me are 'poles apart' and 'keep talking'. they show a tiny bit of that old pf creativity.
it also bothers me that there are other people writing pink floyd lyrics. its not special anymore. if wright cant write his own lyrics, why bother making that song? so he could make a kenny g sound alike?
all in all, i like the theme of the album, its still better than 85% of the shit out there these days, but this is VERY VERY far from the pink floyd we all love so much. if only gilmour could do guitars like on animals and wright some of his dsotm magic it coulda been great. oh well.
oh yeah, and waaaaay too many backup singers. it fit on dsotm and wywh. here they are just trying too hard.
