| Re: Division Bell So, everybody seems to be sure it's wonderful musically . Maybe it lacks from a lyrical point of view, but the music is out of discussion.
Uhm... I don't know if the lyrics are bad or good (and I don't care at all), but those songs are so obvious, simple and repetitive. And the "sublime" and "great" and "incredible" chorus on High Hopes is nothing but the same 5 notes repeated without changing anything.
Every time I listen to it, I would ask "dear Dave, are you going to change that damned chord or will you insist on it until death?"
"The grass was greener"
"The light was brighter"
"The taste was sweater"....
Yes... "And nothing changed" (sang on the famous 5 notes).
Great fantasy, uh?
The same thing for Keep Talking, even worst.
Of course they're still good musicians, able to cover the so-called song with all those beatiful guitar and keyboards sounds.
But you can cover the nothing with whatever you want, it remains always nothing.
"Forever and ever"... (same 5 notes, again!)
Then, if everybody enjoy it, maybe the "unchanging cry" is really great and sublime. But surely it's not what they use to be. |
