Re: 'Echoes' Best Of CD

Ah, it's always good to see another fan of Mr. Wright's! They really seem to come out of the woodwork here, and I like that.

I'm afraid I can't rank them all as well as clearly as you can, but Mr. Wright is definitely my favourite as a person. Given the chance to meet a Floydian in the flesh, I'd meet with Mr. Wright. Besides...I'm partial to the player of my first instrument! I just got a guitar, but even if I end up more proficient in that than at keyboards (I'm trying to learn the guitar without all of the bad habits I have on the piano!), I will always be a keyboardist at heart.

There IS a very obvious difference when Mr. Wright is absent. Sometimes I feel I'm the only one who notices it, but you clearly do as well. Sometimes Mr. Wright manages to hit a note that is so perfectly timed, so beautiful, that I end up crying. His absence, though, is very noticeable as well. I very much like "The Final Cut"...except for the fact that I think the keyboardist(s?) does not care what he is doing. In fact, one of my pet projects on the piano is called "The Final Cut: Theme and Variations", where I try to play as if (while I do not claim to duplicate the RWr sound) the keyboardist were a bit more impassioned.

As for the other Floydians, all I will say is that I respect each for their talents. (Though I respect Mr. Waters greatly, and I think he's got better about it over the years, he screwed Mr. Wright over, plain and simple. It was completely uncalled-for; I don't care if the guy really WAS lacking for ideas at the time. Oh, and if you go to my website, you'll see that Mr. Waters STILL won't let him alone...click on the WWW button on my post, go to Mr. Wright's page, and read the FloydWaters Commentary. I would be very interested to hear your take on this theory I have...)
