i would suggest that you not pick your first synth based on what pink floyd used. it was a different time then, these things were brand new. digital is the way to go for a beginner, as a true analog is very expensive and complex for someone who may not be serious. if can afford it, the korg triton cane do anything you need, its a super workstation. you could record all of your music on it if so desired! you could get an analog modeling synth like the ms2000 or theres a little yamaha one pretty cheap. i dunno, go to a guitar center and try them out. read up on it. dont make a mistake, shits expensive, and its truly sad to get stuck with gear your not eager to use.
