I think in the end - the talking (..i didn't know i was drunk at that time) i some what reminiscent of the conflict that has arisen due to wealth, leading to "alchoholism" and such - it somehow seems to me as well that in the end this "jack" may have somehow looked past his problems and is in effect "breaking down his disguise" by talking about it.
