The main thing is, if you browse the forums using our "Get new posts" feature, you will only see such posts once. Since they are locked, there will be no activity in them, and they will gradually fall to the end of the forum, as posts are shown in chronological order. So deleting should not be necessary. Also, it's nice for the user who posted the thread to know what happened with it.
