These files quality is greatly influenced by the soundcard you have. In case you have a poor soundcard (such as the SoundBlaster Pro, SB16, Adlib or others like those), you should try WinGroove, which is a software that can emulate a better soundcard (last time I checked it, a SoundBlaster AWE32) with the help of your processor. Another very good software that does that is Beatnik, you might want to try it out.
