APFFN is back online!

Dear friends,

Our website has been down since the end of October, because of severe technical problems that we experienced as we tried to upgrade the software we use to run All Pink Floyd Fan Network.

After countless hours in front of the computer and the urges of real life piling up, I have, throughout these two months and a half, thought of giving up and letting APFFN go more than once.

However, some of our regular and most cherished users (you know who you are, and I know you wouldn't like that much attention drawn to you, so I won't mention your names out of respect for that) were always there to give me encouragement, to support APFFN and to offer their help in any way they could. In all honesty, this was the most grateful surprise I have ever had since APFFN went live, in October 1995 (formerly as "The Great Gig in the Web").

Well, several hours of hard work later and I'm glad to say that APFFN is back online!

There should be no data lost whatsoever. We ended up upgrading the softwares we use to run the website, and several things are still to be fixed, so if you find anything not working or behaving oddly, please be sure to let me know.

Hopefully this was the last time that APFFN was offline for so long.

Thank goodness for that. If not for university exam revision, I would have been at a complete loss. That, and getting to grips with a promotion and new responsibilities at work.

After a month or so of no APFFN I was almost certain that it would never be back online, what a surprise I had this morning! I'm very glad you worked so hard for us Paulo

It's both heartwarming and a little creepy to see just how many of us were checking this site every day for months to see if it had returned.

Actually, for me, the down time had gone on for more than a month of daily checks, I just stopped checking every day and would have a look as and when the thought arose. Okay, every OTHER day.

At the end, I just had to email Paulo to find out WTF? After a couple of days of, I imagine, Paulo frenziedly getting things sorted, he replied and told me the good news. No, Jebus hadn't returned, as far as I was aware, but APFFN had.

In fact I had also given up any hope of the site coming back again. Lately I didn't participate much but I used to come quite often to read news about the Floyd or opinions from any of the regular posters (I followed much of the U.S. elections through this site and there were very enlightening discussions for a Spaniard with no idea about U.S. politics like me). But then I received a mail yesterday and I had this happy surprise!

Still, I get some problems if I navigate with Firefox (my usual choice as a navigator) but there are no problems if I use Google Chrome.

Shine On all of you too!

I must say great work Paulo I thought APFFN was gone forever. I haven't checked in over a month and today I really wasn't expecting to see it back up again and lo and behold it was. Thanks to all who made it happen. And Happy New Year to all Floydians.Too bad about Richard Wright. I wasn't aware that he was that sick. Hopefully his Family is getting through that sad day. Hope everyone got through the holidays in good shape. This year was real fun with our Annabelle at Christmas she was really inmto it. Well hope to hear from everyone soon.
