Re: Echoes of...Roger Waters

Here is some early morning braindrain for you, so get your coffee ready and let's talk about our personal Best of Water's's solo career. I'm working on making a mix but I'd rather hear what other fans think as well. If you could pick 4 songs from each of his solo albums (Pros and Cons, KAOS, and ATD) which 12 songs would you have for the compilation?
Thanks!

Re: Echoes of...Roger Waters

This is a hard one here.

1. Arabs with knives...
2. Sexual Revolution
3. Pros & Cons
4. Every Strangers Eyes
5. Radio Waves
6. Me Or Him
7. Four Minutes
8. The Tide Is Turning
9. What God Wants I
10. The Bravery of Being Out Of Range
11. It's A Miracle
12. Amused To Death

That should do it.

Re: Echoes of...Roger Waters

Wow! I really like that list you got there eugene. Speaking of Eugene's Axe, I'm pretty damned happy to say I'm finally going to hear the studio version today as I'm picking up one of the last commercial releases I have to go (Works being the other). I have the Ummagumma version and it sounds pretty good. Probably makes me sound like a newbie but I am amassing information faster than I can find it. Only been into Floyd since November 4th of last year and already have about 24 related CD's so I'm well on my way to being one of you knowledgable people. Anyone else have a 12 song best of waters list they'd like to throw in?
P.S. Clapton's solo on Sexual Revolution is something to be in awe of.

Re: Echoes of...Roger Waters

Heres my list,

1. It's A Miracle
2. Perfect Sense Pt 1 and 2
3. The Tide Is Turning
4-16. All of Pros and Cons

As you can tell, I love Pros and Cons, but the other ones are awesome as well. Better than MLOR, but are about equal with TDB. You should buy all three of them though, theyre really cheap.

Re: Echoes of...Roger Waters

Personally I always seem to start a Roger compilation with Our Song from the Music from the Body LP but thats just me I am a freak that way I guess.
I also enjoy lacing them with tracks from When The Wind Blows.
Which I have noticed before signing up as a member no one ever seems to mention these two lp's
As a new member I have to say though that I will not argue over TFC MLOR or TDB. LOL!
Happy to be here..glad I found this place!

Re: Echoes of...Roger Waters

1. The Pros and Cons (title track)
2. Every Strangers Eyes
3. The Moment of Clarity
4. The Tide is Turning
5. What God Wants Part 1
6. Perfect Sense Part 1
7. Perfect Sense Part 2
8. Late Home Tonight Part 1
9. What God Wants Part 3
10. Watching T.V.
11. Three Wishes
12. Amused to Death

Haha! To be quite honest, I don't have P&C's or KAOS. But the songs I put down,(for P&C and Radio)I have on mp3...and I like them!

Besides, there isn't a bad song on ATD.

Re: Echoes of...Roger Waters

In MOST cases...the end of the album is the most powerful.

I have selected these to try to give the best sense of the story/concept's progression, but it is not easy to do given the nature of his work.

------
Pros and Cons

Apparently They Were Travelling Abroad (not the best--but you need a prologue)
Go Fishing
Every Stranger's Eyes
The Moment of Clarity

------
Radio KAOS

Me or Him
Home
Four Minutes
The Tide is Turning

------
Amused to Death (Note: This is the most difficult...)

What God Wants, Part I
Late Home Tonight, Parts I and II (one song, really)
What God Wants, Part III
It's a Miracle

Re: Echoes of...Roger Waters

Bearing in mind i have yet to purchase "The Body" so i dont know anything from that..

And 4 songs isnt enough so i got ten...

1. Pros & Cons 4:30am
2. Pros & Cons 4:33am
3. Perfect sense 1
4. Perfect sense 2
5. Bravery of being out of range
6. Pros & Cons 4:41
7. Its a miracle
8. Amused to death
9. Folded Flags
10. The Tide is turing

There'd be some serious mixing to gell these songs together, but thats my pick...

Re: Echoes of...Roger Waters

Just purchased The Body...interesting stuff. Very funny in some bits, especially the opening track.."our song". Another weird concept from the mind of Roger Waters.
