Re: Young Lust guitar solo

Can someone familiar with this song inform me of what Gilmour uses to make the sound of that solo?

Just sounds like straight up Distortion with a hint of chorus.

Re: Young Lust guitar solo

I can't seem to get the sound right with chorus... 50% reverb on a maniac amp (the reverb is the only good thing on one of those amps, everything else sucks!) a little distortion from a pedal and a slight echo effect will do you the trick

Good one thorin13.

Just use your own sounds and distirtion...and add your own feeling to the song. Don't just copy Dave's work.

Re: Young Lust guitar solo

equipment wise:

Fender Stratocaster
Brittish Tube Amp (Marshall, Hiwatt, or Laney)
a bit of compression added in the mix.
slapback echo (~360 m/s, ~45% feedback)

In terms of technique,
he's using basic blues riffs but applying pinch harmonics. This is where you hit the strings with your thumb and the pick at the same time, creating a squeal. That's what you hear in the beginning and those high bends too.
