Re: Censored Pros & Cons Cover Art

Does anybody have an uncensored cover to the album? My copy has this really annoying black box blocking out the woman's bum! It looks really cheap and nasty.

If anybody has a high res scan please can you let me know how to get hold of it!!!

Many thanks.

Re: Censored Pros & Cons Cover Art

I'm appalled!

Okay, maybe a little livid, but where did you get your copy or is it an import from the morally right US (hah!) record industry?

I can't believe it was produced for sale in the UK. Not with what one can see every day on pages 3, 5 or 7 in most of the tabloid papers.

Re: Censored Pros & Cons Cover Art

BoaB, you appaled that my copy isn't censored, or that those guys copies are?

All the copies in the shops here are censored now, I was lucky enough to get one before the record industry decided to adopt a token moral highground.

Re: Censored Pros & Cons Cover Art

The only versions of Pros and Cons that are uncensored are the first pressing on vinyl and the Canadian CD release, both of which I have. However, the Canadian version is inferior to the US version in terms of the rest of the artwork (it's absent).

Re: Censored Pros & Cons Cover Art

I have a censored cover of the Pro & Cons album, and yes it's made in the USA. Whats the problem with the cover??? Does anyone know why it was done?

Doesn't really matter to me though. My dad has a Vinyl copy of it and the bums there to be seen. Anyways...

Driven,

I'm apalled that there are censored copies in existence, and am beginning to think I should rethink my Aussie emigration idea.

Shine on!

Re: Censored Pros & Cons Cover Art

I don't understand why it's censored, personally. I've seen worse on GREETING CARDS! It's just a rear end; what's the big deal???

Re: Censored Pros & Cons Cover Art

You can thank Tipper Gore and the PMRC of the early 80's for the censorship. I have one of the original uncensored releases of the 12" vinyl. I also have a censored cd that I listen to.
I found these really cool "album frames" at Restoration Hardware ( kind of a Martha Stewartesque Home Depot) and my copy is proudly on display in behind my bar.

Anyway , Tipper took it upon herself to "clean up the record industry" in the 80's. In response the record industry went into reactionary self defense and began to "censor" anything that might be even remotely objectionable between about 1983 and 1986.
The original U.S. release of Pros and Cons (about 50,000 copies) went out as Roger intended, buns out in full view. If you have one , keep it, they are collectors items.
