| Re: Pulse VCD Well, found the answer to my quest for an actual cd version of the VIDEO Pulse, since the Pulse cd isn't an exact replica of the video. I'm purchasing the VideoCD and then burning a copy. |

| Re: Pulse VCD Why would you burn a copy of the VCD after you purchase it? The burn will still be a VCD, unless you record it to WAV, in which case, it won't sound as good as the PULSE CD (due to the MPEG Compression on VCDs). Your best bet is to wait until the DVD comes out, and then do a digital transfer. If you don't have this capability, there are plenty of people who do, and would most likely be willing to trade or B&P a copy to you. BTW, does anyone know if the In The Flesh DVD is the same concert as the CD? If not, I'm going to do a transfer from my DVD. I'll probably also do the same for the Wall tracks that are different from the album/not included. |

| Re: Pulse VCD One more thing, if you still decide to purchase the VCD. Some copies of PULSE on VCD are only the non-DSOTM portion of the concert. I've seen the DSOTM performance sold as a seperate VCD on EBAY, titled (obviously) "Dark Side of the Moon". |

| Re: Pulse VCD I feel very silly. What exactly is the difference between a VCD and a DVD? (I've only heard of the latter.)

| Re: Pulse VCD Obviously I'm obsessed with this. If I get the VCD, what software WOULD I need to burn a cd from it that would sound good? |

| Re: Pulse VCD "I feel very silly. What exactly is the difference between a VCD and a DVD? (I've only heard of the latter.)" Most people get confused by this, so don't feel silly about it. A VCD is an MPEG-2 compressed video, which plays on a CD. The picture quality is less than DVD, and the sound quality is similar to that of an MP3. Also, a VCD has the same time constrictions as a regular CD (74 - 80 minutes). A DVD is a different MPEG style video type, which results in perfect video/audio, when mastered properly. Due to a difference in the physical media and the encoding, a DVD can run at least twice as long as a VCD, even more if double sided, and like I said before, all in perfect quality. "Obviously I'm obsessed with this. If I get the VCD, what software WOULD I need to burn a cd from it that would sound good?" You can't get a good sound from it. The compression scheme on a VCD is very similar to that of an MP3. If you still insist on doing it (in which case I advise you not to trade it out, as to keep the bad circulation to a minimum), you can do one of two things : 1) Play the VCD in your computer and record a WAV file while it plays. 2) Play the VCD in your DVD player, sending from the SPDIF (or optical) digital output on your player, to the SPDIF (or optical) digital input on your soundcard, while recording it as a WAV file. Really, I seem to remember hearing about a DVD release of PULSE sometime around December. If the video and CD versions are really different like you say, I'll be doing a transfer of the DVD. And if the DVD doesn't come out, there's always the option of using the laserdisc, which would sound much better than the VCD, and almost as good as the DVD, due to the fact that it uses a similar PCM audio setup. |

| Re: Pulse VCD Ok, just got the VCD of Pulse. Plays great on the computer (we have Windows Media Player). You mentioned that we should record a WAV file while playing the VCD. Having problems figuring that one out. We didn't have any difficulty burning an actual copy of the VCD, which is sort of surprising. I simply want the music though!! Thanks. |

| Re: Pulse VCD Incidently...how good is PULSE going to sound in Dolby 5.1!!!! I've never seen them in concert, and I honestly think that a large part of the experience would be hearing the music through their quad system. I'd say DVD (dolbydigital or DTS) will be the closest that we can get to that experience.

| Re: Pulse VCD 1) Download a WAV editor/recorder like Sound Forge or Goldwave. 2) Hit play on the VCD, and record on the sound editor. Make sure it's set to record at 44.1 kHZ, 16 bit, stereo. 3) Download CD Wave Editor to make the track splits in the large WAV file. 4) Burn the audio CD using the cue sheet or split WAVs that you created. 5) Do NOT trade copies of this out. |

| Re: Pulse VCD Quote:
Should sound great. I've got the (bootleg) DTS mixes of WWYH and DSOTM. WWYH is awesome, and I've heard the AHM mix is great as well. I'd definately recommend WWYH, but DSOTM is a bit disappointing. |

| Re: Pulse VCD Thanks! I'll give it a try. No, not planning on trading copies or anything, my intention was simply to get a cd off of the actual Pulse Video. I'll let you know what the quality is like. |

| Re: Pulse VCD To answer your earlier question, Highwind, the In The Flesh CD and DVD are indeed the same show, so no need to transfer the DVD.
