Re: a review of each rog album

pros and cons: a classic album for ages to come. the theme and storyline is excellent and very imaginative. its the most pink floydish rog solo album. the best rog solo album.

radio kaos: i dont really care for the storyline, but i ignore them and listen to the songs. its a really good album with a full, but good 80s sound. the track home is probably one of the best rog solo tracks.

amused to death: a really exceptional album. it has a real low and unhappy theme, but makes up for it in great lyrics and music. rog really outdoes himself on this album. it shows that he can never really slow down.

note, all albums are 100% worth buying.

Re: a review of each rog album

My preference for RW's albums increases with time (until and excluding ITF).

Music from the Body: ?? Is this a Roger Waters album or a Ron Geesin one? I don't like this much at all. (I only sampled it in a store. I am glad my experience was no more than that.)

Pros and Cons: Not too shabby...but it sounds too much like The Wall. I also don't like Eric Clapton so much, especially when he's supposed to be a blatant BDG-replacement. Not to mention...certain songs scare me. I wouldn't want a man coming on to me so strong! YUCK!!! Not a bad album...but not the best, either.

Radio KAOS: I actually enjoy this one. While it certainly pales in comparison to what's next, I do like the sound and I think the storyline is pretty interesting, despite being so fantastical. This thing starts out "soft" (not music-wise) and grows in power to the end. Try this in the car for effect--it's like going down the road and hearing this on the radio. Also the fast pace matches highway driving.

Amused to Death--His best work yet. I believe this does the best job of musical originality. The guitar work is very good, but not so overbearing that one gets the sense of an attempt to find a BDG-replacement. Conceptually it is also his strongest work ever...poignant, despairing, occasionally hopeful. But very candid in his views on society. No punches pulled. This is his best album both lyrically and musically.

I think Pros and Cons is far better than Radio KAOS. And Eric Clapton rocks.

Re: a review of each rog album

In the Body: humerous
Pros & Cons: Great album, and easliy listened to. In the same frame as Wall, Final Cut.
When the Wind Blows: Enjoyable, good, Folded Flags is a standout.
Radio Kaos: My least favourite, but don't get me wrong i like it. Very "80's", but does boast some very good tracks, Home, Tide is Turning, The Powers that be.
ATD: The standout album. Roger did some great some stuff here. I especially love the last say 20 or 30 minutes with tracks like, Watching Tv, It's a miracle, Bravery, ATD. Very good, the best Roge has done.
INF: Great live stuff. If your a fan of Roger, get it.

Re: a review of each rog album

I guess we sometimes have instinctive likes and dislikes, especially when it comes to dealing with love.

As for Eric Clapton, I like SOME of his work on his own. But I don't like hearing him as a BDG-replacement...the same way I don't like hearing Michael Kamen as a BRWr-replacement!

Re: a review of each rog album

ATD is cool but i guess Dave is much better than Jeff Beck  so it could have been a better album, and i must say The final cut is my favourite Rog's solo work right for the fact Dave and Nick took part as session men
Radio KAOS is really enjoyable, and considering my aversion for everything that fits with the 80s style it's surprising how i like it.
P&C... eh... i wish i knew, here they keep saying it's out of production, i'll look for it on Amazon, in the meanwhile i'll buy MFTB.
