Re: Best Song To Start A Concert

For some reason, I think "Echoes" would be a great song to start a concert off with. The lights go out, the crowd cheers, silence... and then *ping*.

*ping*

I'm listening to The Nile Song now and I actually thought of it being a good concert starter but after the guitar solo,no way...

Re: Best Song To Start A Concert

I'd be inclined to say Echoes, just because I haven't heard it live.

Re: Best Song To Start A Concert

PF opened with Echoes for the first few dates on the AMLOR tour in the USA, but Gilmour dropped it due to audience apathy towards the track (unbelievable I know). Would be interested to hear a ROIO...

Exactly what did the audience do when Echoes was played?

Re: Best Song To Start A Concert

I beg to differ. Dave said that he stopped singing Echoes live because he felt silly singing about albatroses and such in the 80's.

Re: Best Song To Start A Concert

If Dave felt silly singing songs about albatrosses, I wonder how he felt writing songs about flying lessons...?

Re: Best Song To Start A Concert

I've got a few recordings of "Echoes-1987" and they are not that great. Muffled a bit and David and Rick forget some words. Better live recordings are the ones from around 1975. That's just my opinion. As for an opener; I'd have to say "Welcome to the Machine". That would be an awesome way for the band to say "Hello!". And the second set; "Shine On (all parts combined. NO chopping it up!!!) The third set; "One of These Days". The fourth set; "Childhoods End". The fifth set... who am I kidding? They wouldn't do 5 sets. It'd be a lot cooler if they did!

Re: Best Song To Start A Concert

Childhood's End sounds nice, the synth sound in the beginning, people wondering what is this song, suddenly they hear the familiar acoustic and then they reply: "Could it be..oh my!" and then Dave starts singing the lyrics...nice!
