Re: Best Song To Start A Concert

Ummagumma in its entirety would have been cool when it was released, but its lessened accessibility would have made that a no-no.

nah that would have been pretty crappy. how would they do several species... and can you imagine how boring the grand viziers garden party would have been. the others would have been ok though.

Re: Best Song To Start A Concert

i think it is quite obvious that without a doubt Shine On You Crazy Diamond is the best song to start off a concert (not just pink floyd but of all time), unless we are talking about a concept show like the wall etc.

Re: Best Song To Start A Concert

Two ways to get the crowd crazy:
Start off with Echoes, lights are dark and then the sudden *ping* (as mentioned by some1 earlier).

Or then One Of These Days, the crowd is anticipating and then the first bass note hits the stage...
Vision this:the end part of On The Run,the plane crashes, then ticking of clocks, all light on nick, then time kicks off..

Re: Best Song To Start A Concert

People are talking so much about bootlegs and how easily they can get bootlegs, but I live in Finland were I have no possibilities of receiving such holy recordings.

Re: Best Song To Start A Concert

"Astronomy Domine" would work well. I even had a dream where THAT happened! It was really cool...

"Shine On" is another good one.

Also, "One of These Days"...I honestly can't decide, though I think "Astronomy Domine" would be the best.

Maybe we could do a thread where we write our ideal setlist...somebody will have to tell me on average how many songs are played at a PF concert--but it might be an interesting thing to do.
