| Re: to burn...or not to burn..... I've got quite a few burned cd's and I've got no problem with it. Saves me a load of money. If money wasn't an issue I'd obviously rather have an official copy. Now I can spend my money on other things than cd's!

| Re: to burn...or not to burn..... Well, I'm thinking of burning some of the MP3's I have on my computer...but whenever possible I like to buy the albums. I like the artwork, and having a nice lyrics sheet, where possible. The only full album I burned is a backup for Broken China. If something happened to the original, I couldn't bear to go without until a new one came in!!!

| Re: to burn...or not to burn..... We finally got permission to bring MP3 players into work (it's a security-laden facility) - so I'm looking forward to finally having the chance to listed to PF all day. Progress indeed! ![]()

I think the problem for me is that Cd's just don't seem to give value for money. When it was the old black plastic thing'ys ( ok..it was back in the mists of time..stop yawning at the back) you got a full sized piece of atrwork which would grace any bderoom wall, lyric sheets and some times full sized posters and stickers (DSOTM). Cd's now give you a wee picture you have to squint at through a magnifying glass. We are being ripped off! *steps off soapbox and goes back to sleep*

| Re: to burn...or not to burn..... I prefer owning CDs to burning them, but that doesn't mean I don't burn. Music is extremely expensive, and often times a friend of mine will have a CD that I wouldn't spend $15 on (that doesn't sound like a lot, but if you think about it, it really adds up). Other times, there are stuff that I absolutely love, but burn anyways. I figure that if the band has already made millions, they aren't going to miss $15. But I believe in supporting current bands, to an extent. In all reality, though, the bands are getting a very very small fraction of the money I just spent on their CD. But yes, I like to own some albums just for the sake of owning them. I intend to eventually own a hard copy of every Floyd CD (there are a few other bands I want to be completist with). I have 6 so far, but have burned all of the rest.

| Re: to burn...or not to burn..... I like to download and burn music I've never heard before. If I like it I buy the CD (wish those back plastic thing'ys were still the medium) because the quality is better. It's a bummer when the burnt sounds better than the just bought, but it only happens on rare occasions. I've converted my favorite (bought) CDs into Mp3s and then burnt those so that I would have a copy in case the abused and scratched-up original won't play anymore.

| Re: to burn...or not to burn..... I buy new.. I will occasoinally preview music online, but seldom download and burn.. I take the opposite tack of TillT.. I burn my original to a copy and abuse that one.. I'll archive the original as a source material..

| Re: to burn...or not to burn..... I only download the odd track that I like but can never see myself buying. If I do download an entire album if I like it I end up buying it, if not it gets deleted after a while. I do make copy's of CD's for use in the car though. Wouldn't like an original to get nicked if it was broken into.
