Disc 1, in my opinion, wins for a very small difference. Make your choices...

Re: The Wall - Disc 1 or 2?

Disc 1 flows better and has more good songs on it. (Plus there's no better opener than In the Flesh?). Disc 2 has Hey You, Comfortably Numb, Run Like Hell, and little else. But you really do have to listen to both for the whole experience and the whole story.

If disc 2, which is perfect up to Stop, had Goodbye Blue Sky and Goodbye Cruel World, I wouldn't even bother to keep disc 1 around.

Re: The Wall - Disc 1 or 2?

This makes no sense, its an album, not a greatest hits compilation. It's two disc because of time constraints.

Re: The Wall - Disc 1 or 2?

It would be cool a 'The Wall special edition' with "When the Tigers broke free" part I&II, "What shall we do now?" and the extended movie version of "Outside the wall", this last one is kinda moving imao.
Anyway, i think disc 2 is just a bit better (disc 1: perfect, disc 2: perfect+)

Re: The Wall - Disc 1 or 2?

I see your point cho.manno, but i see it as one album and not two discs. Sorry mate. Plus there are alot of these so called "favourite disc opinions" threads, thats geeting rather tiresome. Sorry though.

Re: The Wall - Disc 1 or 2?

If I could exchange Run Like Hell for One of my Turns...I would just play frisbee with Disc One.

(I like Disc 2 if nobody caught on to that.)

Re: The Wall - Disc 1 or 2?

I admit that this is a great album like it is. I wouldnt know how it would sound, nor do I know how to get one to flow into another, but if I could combine the 2 cd's into 1 cd of my favorite songs from the album, I would go with the following in this order:

In the Flesh?
The Thin Ice
Hey You
Mother
Is There Anybody Out There?
Nobody Home
Goodbye Blue Sky
One of My Turns
In the Flesh
Comfortably Numb
Run Like Hell
Dont Leave Me Now
Goodbye Cruel World
======================================
What do you think? Could my choices make the album better than it is? Or am I just coming up with songs to mix on a cd and burn? Who knows....

Re: The Wall - Disc 1 or 2?

Well Seamus, i think the only way to make The Wall better than it is, in my opinion, is to add those tracks from the movie that are not included in the album.
Then of course everybody will have his favourites, but it is a concept album, so a 'greatest hits' would be kinda mayhem of the story... i think.
