| Re: Bands influenced by Floyd? What Floyd influenced bands do you reckon are the best? I haven't heard that many, actually. "Ok Computer" by Radiohead though, is a pure Floydian trip and it's a wonderful album too which I'm sure many of you are familiar with. Nothing can ever beat the original, but what do you reckon is the best Floyd influenced album out there?

| Re: Bands influenced by Floyd? Ok Computer is definatly the one for this topic. Yorke has also said that Floyd were an influence, so we know for sure. And as i remember, it's Meddle he loves.

| Re: Bands influenced by Floyd? I can hear the Floyd's influences running all through stuff by Hawkwind and Spiritualized. But that's probably extremely subjective. Whatever...who cares anyway....

| Re: Bands influenced by Floyd? I wouldn't agree with Pedge on that, but whatever floats your boat... Amnesiac and Kid A are *nothing* like Ok Computer, you couldn't even tell it was from the same band. When it comes to music, I don't want change. Rock is fine with me and Radiohead's last two albums just blow, basically. What happened to the melody, I wonder?? No room for that anymore? Bah, it's bullshit.

| Re: Bands influenced by Floyd? Oh yeah for sure. There last two were very unique and different weren't they. I liked them but i can understand why others don't. Whose to say what theoir next album will be!! Something probably utterly different as well. Actually The Bends is quality though. Maybe give that one a try instead (if you liked Ok).

| Re: Bands influenced by Floyd? ....all this blather about who influenced whom....but NOBODY is saying WHY! Exactly why does OK Computer sound like a Floyd album, eh? Now I know Pedge will probably respond "because I said so, and that's enough for me!" but HEY - there's more to music criticism that THAT. Way more. Is it the thematics, the use of electronics, the generous use of segues, the desperation in Yorke's voice, the.....you get the picture. C'mon people, throw me a bone here! I'm and old black blues guitarist and I'm trying to get hip to you youn'uns! -Pink Anderson (getting antsy)

| Re: Bands influenced by Floyd? All of OKC doesn't sound like Floyd. But take the song 'Exit music (for a film)' as an example. Quiet, calm acoustic guitar play at first, and singing vocals that really were made to cut your wrists to. And then a chorus that cries out sadness, Floyd did this a lot too. And then the drums, those bold drums kick in and Thom Yorke sings the most bitter words he'll ever sing, probably. Ok, so I can't name *one* thing that makes me say OKC is a Floyd influenced album. But it's obvious. My instinct just tells me that. And you'll hear it too - anyone with a resemblance of a music ear will hear it. And the guitar solo in 'Lucky' is just a pure Floyd trip, though it doesn't reach Dave's standards. Just listen to it, you'll know what I mean.
