Re: SYD STORY

Something along the lines of South Australian Board for Secondary School Assessement or something of the sort, not entirely sure. Basically when you do exams and major pieces on high school they are the ones that asses it

cheers

Re: SYD STORY

Sydney: Very good story.. I really liked it because one of my favorite songs: Eagles- Hotel California, and favorite movies: Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, were both mentioned in your story. And it sends a good message that "Drugs are bad, M'kay" Great story..

Re: SYD STORY

awwww, shucks... thanks dude... I'd forgotten about this thing.
My aim wasn't to send a "drugs are bad" message just a story about a guy that went too far

cheers

I don't know...

...if anybody can possibly speak for someone else, especially that disturbed personallity like Syd Barrett.I don't mean disturbed in a good or bad sense. And to be frank I don't think that he went too far with the drug abuse...he was just playing with his mind all of the time, perhaps many obsessions, consequitive thoughts day and night...it really must not be these ups and downs that most of us have. Just like PF sing that he reached for the truth a little bit too early for his age...most of us really have things that wouldn't like to even think of...I guess he did that all the time...perhaps a state of consiousness that is intolerable?

As far as the "don't do drugs" moto is concerned, I think that it is a bit too short...surely for a teenager doesn't mean anything, on the contrary he/she might just go for it and find out, it just gives you this impression that it is not enough.

It's just that...

...some people don't understand the real concept/meaning of a free, democratical world...and as far as Syd is concerned, don't you all think that he doesn't really want all this babbling about him, especially from young people like you and me that haven't even seen half of life we will witness in the future, writting all these "essays" and "egkomiums"(sorry, greek word, couldn't find the right one) about a simple ordinary person?
It's just so...vain.

Thanks dude.. I like that line myself.. I just felt that it usually the first thing that seals all others. There's this line in Hearts in Atlantis where Anthony Hopkins says "Your first kiss.. against which all others for the rest of your life will be compared" that's sort of the same thing...

Laplace... The story isn't ABOUT Syd.. it's just when I finished writing it that it reminded me of him to some extenet and decided to post it here. Not like I was sitting in class and went "hermmm.. I'll write a story about Syd Barrett".... I do not under any circumstances claim to know everything about life..

Also this is a Pink Floyd forum and people are bound to talk about Syd.. simple as that... If you didn't like the story.. fine, that doesn't bother me but please don't judge us on drawing parallels between the story and Syd's own life (or what we know of it)

cheers
Lej
