i know the answer to this question. back in the old forum the quote function stopped working at some point in time. well it worked but it didn't display it properly. but now everything is fine.

nobody else seems to notice the missing guitar solo in the edited version from Echoes... it's not even really parts 1-7, more like parts 1-3.5 and 4-7

I dig Shine On and especially Echoes because I just feel like Floyd didn't leave anything out, it's very thorough in my mind. I first heard the songs Echoes and Shine On on the Echoes cd, and when I heard the original versions I was flabbergasted as to how they could leave very important stuff out.

They miss out the same solo on 'ACOGDS' too, which is bad enough, but to do it twice on two different compilation albums?? And don't even mention the ridiculous butchery of 'Echoes' on the last compilation. What the france were they thinking??

Rick doesn't talk very loud, does he? It's like they've got him tied up in the basement or something.

I think Echoes succeeds very well at what it does... it's a sampler, not a full-course meal. Plus, it works as a self-contained album.

Personally I think the singing ruins the song and left as an instrumental but thats probally just me

Somehow these ****ed up jokes of 90's PF bullshit always makes my aggression meter rise up. Seems like you are giving reference that the 90's bullshit should have been taken away from the compilation. Well I think all that Syd Barrett bullshit should be taken away (okay not really but this is an example). You can't please everyone,it's been said before and I'm saying it again goddamn! I hope many of you agree with this, Marooned completely, or not at all! Stupid cut versions! And yes,people have noticed the missing solo in SOYCD (1-3.5) . We had a thread about that sometime, correct if I'm wrong.

Agreed. It's the thing I take on car trips or other long trips when I don't want to drag my whole PF collection with me. It serves a purpose.
