TOP 5 Guitar players of all time!

Yeah you got it...Here are my five best guitar players of all time...actually im gonna give you ten...but there are so many more...(this is just my opinion)

1. .DAVID GILMOUR
yeah so I am a little biased since I love Floyd...but all in all he is the best guitar player/vocalist/writer ever-his playing is so consistent and he has so many great albums under his belt. No one can stretch and string-out a note like Gilmour. He plays brilliantly on electric and accoustic.

2. JIMMY PAGE
When he was with Zeppelin he was unbelievable. Both on acoustic and electric. Amazing career from the Yardbirds to Zeppelin. Unfortunately his solo album Outrider is one of the worst things I have ever heard, and the new Page and Plant duo is not very convincing. Also Puff Daddy...no...I won't even go there.

3. DUANE ALLMAN
I really don't need to say anything. Fillmore East says it all. The most amazing white boy to ever play the blues. On that night in '71, Allman really could turn water into wine. Its a shame he died so young as he had plenty of guitar playing left in him.

4. JEFF BECK
Another Yardbirds prodigy. Re-invented and popularized fusion with Blow by Blow and Wired. Amazing guitar player in all respects...just never found the right band.

5. FRANK ZAPPA
So many albums and so many great solos. Very versatile guitar player who has done it all in every genre...always with a sense of humor.

6. ROY BUCHANAN
7. JIMI HENDRIX
8. JOE SATRIANI
9. CARLOS SANTANA
10. TREY ANASTASIO

Re: TOP 5 Guitar players of all time!

Here's six that I like and am familiar with, in no particular order:

1. David Gilmour (tone for days; I've never heard anyone replicate him)
2. Robin Trower (awesome '70s guitarist; his Bridge of Sighs album is definately worth checking out)
3. Mick Ronson (his stuff with David Bowie; the Ziggy Stardust album wouldn't have been the same without him)
4. Jonny Greenwood (from Radiohead; tasteful playing)
5. Tom Morrello (from Rage Against the Machine; probably the most experimental guitarist I've heard)
6. George Harrison (nice playing during early Beatles, got even more better near the end of the '60s).

I definitely agree with Wing'd Icarus...SRV, David G, and Hendrix....I would also add Page to the list...Are there any guitarists out there who you would like to see...getting more recognition? I am heading to Ozzfest tomorrow, and must say...Zakk may be an up an comer...

Let's see... Gilmour at number 1, then Hendrix, Harrison, Clapton, Knopfler. No technical reasons, just feeling.
