| Re: Dinner for Five!!! David Foster Wallace Wendell Berry Susan Sontag Neil Postman David Lynch I probably wouldn't talk at all, which is fine. I had a lunch a few months ago with, among other people, a relative who teaches music history at Yale and a friend who teaches medieval philosophy at Fordham. It was the sort of thing where I could follow their conversation, but I could by no means take part in it. There is a special pleasure in listening to people much smarter than yourself talk and learn about things that they find fascinating. |
