Re: vegetable man

That song for me kind of draws the line between his Pink Floyd days and his solo career when it comes to style. Its a hybrid of sorts. I like it a lot

Re: vegetable man

It was supposedly written while tripping and waiting for the band to pick him up for a rehearsal and he is indecisive about his clothes.

Veggie

VEGETABLE MAN was recorded in the same block as SCREAM THY LAST SCREAM and JUGBAND BLUES. The last Syd/Floyd recordings.

My band NC-17 did a funked-out version of VEGETABLE MAN in 1992-1994, and it was a big audience-pleaser, even if 99.9% of them didn't know it was an unreleased Floyd song. I have a few live recordings out at the studio, I'll have to pull 'em out and listen to them...

Re: vegetable man

Wonder if you know (I realised last week) that there are actually not two, but three versions of this song floating around. One is the BBC live, the second is the studio with the echoed voices and the third is without them and a bit different mix. I was really surprised.

Re: vegetable man

If 'Scream Thy Last Scream' and 'Vegetable Man' are so revered, how come they aren't on any official releases?

It's because Dave says that they were made before he came in (which is true), so he thinks he does not have the right to release them. Rick and Nick won't do anything about it I think.

Re: vegetable man

Syd guitar playing on Vegetable Man is similar to the Apples and Oranges guitar part. It has that strange filtering sound on it, like an early wah or something. I think the same sound is on the live Astronomy Domine on Ummagumma. If one wants more Vegetable Man, you could get a recording of the rehearsal that's floating about. It's on Have You Got It Yet.

Re: vegetable man

Lucy leave was one of Floyds earliest songs recorded when Bob Klose(sp?) was still a member and playing lead guitar. Very catchy .

Re: vegetable man

Bob Klose should play the second (or lead?) guitar there. He surely is on I'm A King Bee.
