What is the name of the dog (that walks up to the commander on the tv show) on the wall movie? It occurs during the song Nobody Home.

Re: What is the dogs name on The Wall movie?

wise_intel,

I won't repeat THAT word here, but I suspect you already know what the word is.

It's the dreaded "N" word and I believe the movie is either called or about The Dam Busters.

I could be wrong, but still, it's just a name for a dog, a BLACK dog, after all.

Cheers,
Byron

Yeah, it's the name everyone calls Sheriff Bart in "Blazing Saddles". I do believe the movie is titled The March of the Dam Busters, though I'm probably wrong. By the way, let's try and not start a race war here. It's really not necessary. I'm not accusing anybody of anything, but I'd hate to see stuff start to escalate(sp?).

Yes, the dog is called N***** and the footage is taken from The Dam Busters movie.

I don't mean to overstep my bounds or anything Slick Brocilli, but I edited that word because I'm sure some people would find it offensive.

Fair play, edit away. I'm from the UK and it's not a word that gets **** out here. In fact the only word that does in our press these days is c***. I don't think any racists visit this site anyway. If you're into the Floyd then you just can't be brain-dead can you?

Re: What is the dogs name on The Wall movie?

I understand what you're saying. The thing is, people of all different races frequent this site. I would hate to see Dallagnol take any heat for people use any kind of racial slur. I know that wasn't your intent or anything, but all the same, some people may take it that way. Thanks for understanding.

I'm pretty sure any good PF fan is not racist; so that word, said by 1 of us, is just a word, not an offence.

(I hope  )

Re: What is the dogs name on The Wall movie?

So tnt, there ARE still new things to be learnt about PF here after all.

FYI, I didn't mention the entire word in question expressly because of the reasons given by eug'axe: that no matter how unintentional the slur might be in description, some of us may still take offense. After all, it IS only a word and words can't hurt, but there was really no need to risk it.

No attack on you at all, Slick. It's all good.

Shine on!
Byron

p.s. I read in the news a while back that Washington DC Council suspended one of its officials because he used the word "niggardly" to describe the amount of funds available for some project or another. The PC-police went into full and rapid action to ease (appease) the apparently highly offended minority constiuents.

If they had paid better attention in schools, specifically English classes, I doubt any of that fiasco would have taken place. In the end, happily, the distraught official was reinstated - probably after threatening to sue the pants off D.C. - and all was forgiven, once they'd educated themselves sufficiently.

What a hoot.

Re: What is the dogs name on The Wall movie?

First of all, why would anyone be offended, no one is calling anyone a n***** (edited for the benefit of the overly sensitive moderator). Even in the original movie it wasn't a matter of racism (in England do they even use that word, or is it 'coon?).

By the way Byron, I remember that news article as well, quite comical.

In an after thought in the US, the name of the dog was changed to Digger.
