Re: Best Floyd Guitar Solo EVER:::

Probably the guitar solo in High Hopes from the P.U.L.S.E album.

Also comfortably numb.

Re: Best Floyd Guitar Solo EVER:::

Gilmour's best solo is on Comfortably Numb, hands down. However, there are numerous other solos that are entertaining, exciting, exhilerating, spine-tingling (my fav kind ), just plain fun. My fav solo by Gilmour is on Pigs (Three Different Ones) which is the highlight of the Animals album for me. Others include:

Dogs
Time
Money
Any Colour You Like
Shine On
Echoes (all of those live versions are awsome!)
One of These Days
Fat Old Sun(just discovered this song, really like it!)

There are many others....David Gilmour rules!!!!

Hot damn. Toughie. Err, I think I'll go with Comfortably Numb (live from Delicate Sound of Thunder) and also the solos in Dogs. The harmonized solos are good enough to make one wet one's pants.

...

Ooh! I wet 'em!

I don't know about "wetting one's pants", but the harmonizing is cool. I find that some Gilmour solos like Pigs (3DO) and Comfortably Numb send actual shivers down my spine. It is really cool.

I forgot:

Well, okay, I have never wet my pants due to a solo from Gilmour, but I guess you get the general idea.

'The Gold it's in the...' kicks the proverbial ass.

And also the 14-minute live versions of 'Fat Old Sun'.

Re: Best Floyd Guitar Solo EVER:::

My fav solo is definitely from the delicate sound of thunder album.
Its the last 3 mins of "On the turning away" !!!!
I love the whole song a lot!!! It's superb!!! Both the AMLOR version as the DSOT are great, but the DSOT solo is my all time fav.

Re: Best Floyd Guitar Solo EVER:::

On the very last performance of the 1977 In The Flesh tour, at Montreal (Re: famous spitting incident--July 6) Dave and Snowy do a scorching 9-minute guitar rave-up on SOYCD part 8 which is mood elevating.

If any of you get ahold of that ROIO, give it a listen.

Re: Best Floyd Guitar Solo EVER:::

- CN solo
- SOYCD first guitar solo
- SOYCD live part 8 solo ( stratman)
- Pigs (3DO LIVE solo in the jam part) ( Simon, Led Boot, Spirit Catcher)

I still think the 1977 tour was the best.
