I just saw an ad on TV for a large investment scheme, and they were using the music to "Money" (well, not the exact recording, because of copyright).... is it just me, or doesn't that seem a bit contrary to what the whole song was about?

I saw a commercial that ripped off "Breathe" like that. I don't remember what it was for--but the thing used a lot of relaxing undersea images...I remember thinking, how nice, how Floydian. And by the time I'd placed the arrangement of the song, the slogan says something like, "Now you can BREATHE easier". Lots of emphasis on "Breathe".

I just get so irritated at people who circumvent copyright laws like that...even more so than when the artists voluntarily allow their songs to be used.

I know a friend whose church played "Money" one time during the offeratory.

Apparently they had a completely different sound team the next week.

Yeah, apparently someone didn't think it was appropriate, or something. Weird.

I think that's pretty funny...how long did the players manage before there was an uproar?

And, additionally, did they play it on a church organ? That would've been great! (though not during service, lol, I would spend too much time laughing my a** off )

But, still, that's hilarious, almost as hilarious as the time my 'brother' (whom is like my brother but not really) came to services drunk and puked in the offering plate.

Actually, they were playing the track off a DSOTM cd. If the actual band had been playing, I think I would have had to find them and become best friends with them.

Well you certainly learn something everyday. I didn't know you could play PF in church. They could have played Sheep instead of Money. Now that would have been fun. Enough to make me go back to church anyway.

Young Lust would be pretty good too.

"Oooh, I need a dirty woman...."

Or maybe One of These Days.... the possibilities are numerous.

Its funny but I've Liked "money" from the first time I heared just because the Checkmachine sounds on the beggining was femiliar to me.
It was year on years on the start of the financial news ...

Young Lust would have been shouted down I think (or rather more traditional churchgoers would have quietly lodged complaints with the vicar and it would not be played again) and I'm not that sure on One Of These Days.
