New fan and member

Hey everyone, I just joined up. I'm a female from Australia who is obsessed with music and spends too much time listening to it. Although I have been aware of Pink Floyd for a long time, I only recently started listening to and discovering their music. My parents have several PF records, but they never played them (they were too busy listening to the Beatles) I recently watched a BBC program called "The Seven Ages of Rock" One episode focused heavily on Pink Floyd and Syd Barrett, and that kindled my newfound obsession with the band. I have a feeling I am going to love their music forever. My favourite album is Dark Side of the moon, although I really love the early stuff while Syd Barrett was still a member. I love everything about the psychedelic 60s (and early 70s) and I wish I had been around to experience them.

I look forward to chatting with everyone here on this forum.

Hello DiamondEclipse, welcome to the site from another new user who happens to have been a fan of the band from way, way back! Having actually "been there" through the sixties and seventies (I was just a kid in the 60s, the Seventies were my teen years when I really discovered music) I can promise you that the excitement of listening to albums like Dark Side of the Moon never really diminishes, even though other bands will get your attention from time to time. However, returning to Pink Floyd is always an Experience!

Although it's always been the David Gilmour version of PF that I listened to in my younger years, I'm now getting enormous enjoyment from the music of the Syd Barrett period, especially now that there's so much "retrospectice" material available. Such a shame that it took Syd's death to encourage people to listen to his work.

I've rambled on a bit, but that's my enthusiasm running away with me! Welcome to the site, and I hope you spend many happy hours with your Pink Floyd collection.

Allen

I've got the Crazy Diamond boxed set many years back, which included all studio albums by Barrett with all sorts of outtakes as bonus. And that's how my love for Syd's music began: No Good Trying, Here I Go, Octopus, Golden Hair, Baby Lemonade, Dominoes, there are so many good songs... Definitely worthwhile! It seems, however, that the boxed set is no longer available...

True... I've only ever seen one copy of that box set in a record store, and it was second-hand. But its contents are available (including the bonus tracks) as individual CDs, or online of course.
